The Abraham Family’s Journey to Russia to Bring Home Their Daughter

December 9, 2008

Trip 2 - Days 9 & 10: Moscow

It's a dark and rainy day in Moscow. They are blurring together. Monday the boys stayed in the hotel all day and Martin, Lexi and I only ventured out to take her to the embassy approved doctor. We were supposed to go on Friday, but our flight from Novo ended up being 2 hours late, so we missed our appointment. Dr. Boris was great and he checked her over pretty good. She didn't fuss a bit. He said she has a budda belly and it's so true. Lexi weighed in 20 lbs, which means she has gained a pound just since we've had her. She'll eat anything and is crazy about cheerios! Most of her clothes have been size 6/9 months, but today she is wearing a 12 mo. outfit. I can't believe how she is growing and thriving right before our eyes!
Monday was a lazy day and try as we might to keep the boys awake, they slept most of it. Which, of course, meant they were rearing to go at 2:00 am. Whooohoooo, party on the 6th floor of the Marriott! We've played Uno, Clue, and Monopoly, have been swimming, built card houses, watched DVDs, watched the Titans and Monday night football on the internet. Martin and Preston have kept up with their Fantasy Football teams. Gotta love the world wide web!

This afternoon, after our embassy appointment, we are all going to Arbat Street and have dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. Tomorrow, we come home. Oh, as much fun as this experience has been, we are soooo ready for home!

Ice Skating at Red Square was incredible. It was surreal to be skating around and glancing up to see St. Basil's cathedral. I took tons of photos... with Pam's camera. My memory card was still inside our laptop. Just another reason why having Pam here has been wonderful.

We've met lots of families from the US adopting children. Most all have little boys, but I met a family from Orlando in our hotel this morning. They just met an 11 month old little girl yesterday and were very excited about her. I love to see more girls since the wait is so much longer for healthy girls and they are supposed to be non-existent. However, I believe we couldn't have been more blessed than we are to have our sweet Alexis join our family.

Hotel life gets old in ahurry with little ones. There are only so many things you can do before the walls start closing in. I'm so glad that your time to come home is coming right up. You can have all 5 tucked in under your own roof! What a holiday miracle.

I can not believe that you are almost on your way home already. That sure went fast. It will feel great I bet to sleep in your own bed and have all your babies tucked into their beds.

Wishing you all a safe trip back to the US. Embrace these last moments in Russia, it will be over all too soon. I couldn't wait to get home and now I am so sad it is all over and actually miss Russia! But, of course, it is wonderful having everyone home, too!
