The Littlest Tsarina

I get asked a lot if we plan to name our daughter "Tsarina". The answer is "no". It's just a name I love because of its historical connection to Russia, orphans, and the love of one's family. Our Little Tsarina already has a beautiful Russian name that we will simply Americanize a bit.

The name comes from Russia's last empress, the Tsarina Alexandra (1872-1918) who was orphaned at an early age. She married Russia's Imperial Highness Tsar Nicholas II in 1894. Faithfulness to Christ Our Lord and His Church was vitally important to the Tsarina, as well as faithfulness to each other as a family. The family was both her joy and her peace, notably when they were all together living the everyday life of the Russian court that brought so many demands upon them as the Imperial Family. This blog documents our family's journey to bring our little "Tsarina" home from Russia to be with her forever family!
