The Abraham Family’s Journey to Russia to Bring Home Their Daughter

July 1, 2008

I'm bored!

Quick adoption update: It doesn't seem like it has been 10 days since my "Delays" post. We're still waiting for confirmed travel dates. Oh well, it will happen when it is supposed to happen. I'll post the dates as soon as we know.

Congratulations to Ondrea! They had court yesterday in St. Petersburg and the judge miraculously waived the ten day waiting period. They'll be bringing their little girl home in a few days! Hurray!

I've mentioned before that we slow our organized activities way down in the Summer. So it was bound to happen and today it finally did. Nolan announced, "I'm bored." I've never heard any of our boys say this before. Sometimes I think we stay too busy. Of course, when I look around at all the toys strewn about the house, including several varieties of video games, the musical instruments currently collecting dust in the corner, the baseball equipment on the front porch and the construction zone in our back yard, I can't imagine how anyone could be bored!

My goodness there is so much to do around here! We are putting in a real pool (photos and hilarious videos coming soon) in the backyard and using the extra dirt to level an area for a football/soccer/baseball field. Our Snowflake just had five cute little kittens under Preston's bed. We're still house-training our very active little toy-poodle puppy. We hang out outside every evening - and eat ice-cream most nights. We snack on fresh watermelon and/or cantaloupe everyday. We have family movie night and tournaments on the Wii every week. We play a different board game everyday. Martin finally cleared a path down to the creek. We have jars for fireflies, frogs, caterpillars and whatever else the boys find and want to keep as a pet for a little while. My little paleontologists discovered some kind of skeleton last week. Yuck.

My point is... Who could possibly be bored???

I think it is just the lazy days of summer getting to them. Whoops, I just noticed that my "bored" son curled up with his blanket and fell asleep on the floor beside the dog. I think I may go join them. :0)

Update: I just found the other three fast asleep in my bed. It is only 6:45 pm here. Could it have anything to do with the fact that Snowflakes new kittens woke them up at 6:00 am?

That's a great post!! I can't believe any one could ever be bored with all that you do!! Maybe bored meant too tired to do anything else!! Have a great summer!!
