Total Solar Eclipse Photos

Remember when I posted about meeting a really nice retired Priest in the Moscow airport? He was traveling to Novosibirsk, RU to photograph the Siberian Total Solar Eclipse. Well, he just sent me these photos:

Msgr. Royer is the gentleman in the white shirt:

He explained to me that this is called the Diamond Ring effect. Isn't it amazing!

The rest of his photos can be seen at www.astrospringville.org Look under Royer Oaks Observatory, current work.

We were visiting our local children's science center's planetarium last month and learned that on August 21, 2017 there will be a total solar eclipse over Nashville, TN. The point on the Earth where the total eclipse lasts the longest is just northwest of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. That is only about 30 miles from our home. Preston has promised to come home from college so we can all experience it together as a family!
