The Abraham Family’s Journey to Russia to Bring Home Their Daughter

Trip 2 - Day 5: Novokuznetsk

This update will be quick. We have wi-fi in our hotel room now, which is much more convenient, but also costs more than using the business center.

Today, it is just me and Alexis in the room. Martin went back to Kemerovo City to finish up paperwork. We fly to Moscow early in the morning tomorrow. Alexis has been a dream come true. (Her nickname will be Lexi, but I haven't had time to get used to Alexis yet.) She is adorable and charming and a real snuggle bear. She lets me bottle feed her and then rock her to sleep. She slept all night from 8:30 pm to 7:00 am and is currently napping right on schedule. She mimics everything we say or do. Martin already has her saying Da Da. Stinker! Her favorite game is to throw toys on the floor and watch Da Da pick them up! (Ha ha - pay back!) This morning she even gave us kisses.

Tomorrow we will be reunited with our boys and they will meet their sister for the first time. I am sooo ready to be all together as a family. Please keep our dear friend Pam and our boys in your prayers as they travel to Moscow on Thursday. I know she will do great and the boys are expert travelers, but I am praying for easy flights and connections and that they are able to sleep on the overnight flight. And most importantly that they feel God's protection all around them.

P.S. I have a new coat. I bought it in a huge hurry because everyone was waiting on us to go to the orphanage to get our kids. I didn't even look at the price and Martin paid for it with a smile. Let's just say, we have done our part in boosting the economy in Novokuznetsk! We'll have to wrap it up and put it under the Christmas tree when we get home. Lena said I look like a real Russian women now. I thought to myself: Yeah, except for the fact that most Russian women are size 2 and wear spike healed boots in the snow! I don't know how they do it! I snuck a couple of photos, check it out:

P.S. Happy birthday Mason!

P.S.S. Nana or Pam, if you read this in time, I forgot to pack the Uno cards with the boys' backpack (I found them in mine.) Preston knows where more UNO or playing cards are if they want to bring some. Thanks!

Yay! You have a coat! And also that you will be reunited as a family soon...so excited for that too! I am so glad that you posted a photo of those boots in the snow. Most people I know just don't believe me about the heels of the Russian women. Not for me this time, I'm going for comfort!

Glad you were able to buy a coat prior to traveling to Moscow. I love the pictures. Isn't it amazing how they wear those high heels in the snow.

I am sure you are going to be grateful to have that coat in Moscow! You know I had a hard name calling her by her new name, too and still do. It is nice that you kept it as her middle name, I am still trying to get it back in there! She is a little cutie!

Should have warned you about clothing prices - sorry. We met someone on trip 1 with Sam and they had lost there luggage and the husband was telling us how much his new clothes costed him. Ouch.

Glad things are going well with little Lexi. She is so precious.

Kelly and I are so glad things are going well. The boys were doing really great at church last night and were really talking up their trip. They were excited. We'll be praying for them, along with Pam. And thanking God for your new blessing.

I love it that you got pictures of the size 2 people with the heeled boots. That cracked me up too. Especially since Alaskan women wear Carharts and bunny boots. Hey, we are feminine in our own way! Way to support the Russians! I know! The prices over there aren't the kind you stock up on! Well, at least you will be warm and now even more Russians will expect you to understand them when they address you since you will look so native in your new wrap.
