The Abraham Family’s Journey to Russia to Bring Home Their Daughter

February 2, 2009

2 months

It's been 2 months since Lexi joined our family. As I type that sentence, I'm thinking "Is that all?" In some ways, it seems like so much longer - as in forever! She is doing great and I am blessed beyond belief to be her mother.

She is a joyful child. It's not hard to get a great photo of her because she is always smiling. Oh she has her whiny moments too, but it's usually because she is overly tired from trying to keep up with her brothers. I never knew it was possible to wake up so happy in the morning and after naps. She has a big preference for me over anyone else and if I'm not in her sight for a few minutes, she starts calling "mama, mama, mama, maaaamaaaa!" But also when she sees Martin coming home from working, she yells "dada!" and reaches out for him. I'm sure that makes his day.

She plays so well with her brothers. The other day Nolan said "It's so much fun to have a baby in the house again!" Liam is aways saying "Isn't Lexi just the cutest, Mom?" Garrett gets sad when she goes down for a nap or when its her bedtime. And Preston has become a real helper with just about anything she needs. They are all great at running and fetching diapers and wipes quickly although not one of them has yet to change a diaper. I am so proud of my boys and the way they have welcomed their new sister and loved her from day one.

Today she was extra snugly and kept coming to me for hugs and kisses. She would stay in my lap and lay her head on shoulder. Of course we all hug and kiss on her all the time which she totally enjoys, but it was like this was the first time she initiated it.

I'll do another detailed milestone update soon. In the meantime, here are my favorites photos of Lexi taken on our 2 month anniversary.

I LOVE her curls! She is so pretty. It's great to hear how well things are going and that she now initiates affection :) I hope my boys are as wonderful with their sister as your boys have been.

Happy 2 months home. It does seem like it has been longer even though it was around the holidays when you traveled. Lexi is a doll!!

What a sweet baby! Love those chubby cheeks and cute curls and little baby teeth on the bottom. How fast they change. Where does the time go? Enjoy that little baby!

She is so cute! I love her curls in the back of her hair! It's funny how two months can seem like a really long time, in such a great way!

She is a beauty!! I love her curls. So glad that she is doing so well.

PS...you said in a previous post that you finally put your Christmas decorations. I still have a few things out and need to put them away. They are all down but never made it into the storage containers with everything else. Everyday I think "I'll put them away when the twins are sleeping" and I never do it. Hopefully this weekend I will. Getting sick of seeing the stocking and tree lights. Don't ask why they didn't make the storage bins...
