The King is Exhausted

So tonight Nolan was singing a Twila Paris song he heard during the worship service at church this morning. He was singing, "He is exhausted, the King is exhausted on high..."

Preston corrected him saying, "Exalted, the word is EXALTED!"

Seeing this as a great teaching moment, I proceeded to explain the meaning of "exalted" as opposed to "exhausted". For example, "noble, honored, prestigious, superior, grand, uplifted, etc."

Nolan, with a little giggle said, "Oh, I thought God was exhausted because, you know, it was the seventh day!"

We were all laughing so hard at that point that the teaching moment was over.

Kids... you gotta love 'em!

I think he has me beat when it comes to mixing up lyrics. When I was a kid, I used to totally butcher the 1977 Kenny Rogers song:

"You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille...with four hungry HUNDRED children and a crop in the field..."

What song lyrics did YOU misunderstand as a child????

I was thinking that Martin was the king that the post's title was referring to . . . LOL!

I think I basically had most song lyrics wrong when I was a child . . .

That's great!! I'm with Barb. I don't know if I ever had song lyrics right! Still don't!

Kim- That is sooo funny! I love it! I also thought you might be referring to Martin... but this is way funnier!

I wish I could think of an example of a song I butchered the lyrics on as a child. I know I did.... I just can't remember!

For the song "Once Bitten Twice Shy", I sang, "No Spitting twice, child babe". My sisters still tease me about it :)

Cute story :)

i still don't know song lyrics. i only listen to the music part of music. to me, for whatever reason, it is a bunch of work to listen to the lyrics in a song.

That song from the Marshal Tucker band, "Big Ol' Jet Airliner" I thought it said, "Big old Jed had a light on." :)

Too funny!

I cracked up with that! Maybe that is why I'm exhausted, God is too! : )

Just a couple years ago I really was missing the Matt Redman song "Blessed Be Your Name". I kept thinking they were singing over the radio..."You kill and take away...." And I thought, "Well, He can do that if He wants to." And I even had looked up a verse thinking maybe that was what it was based on. Then our Worship Leader had us sing it in church. There were the words up on the screen. Wow!! I really liked the song then!! I was so embarassed, but I did confess it to our WL's wife. She said she had thought they were singing the same thing!!!!

Too Funny!!!

My dad used to make fun of some teeny bopper song I used to listen to - the words were "Don't Rush Me" and my dad would sing "Go Roast Beef" instead. I used to roll my eyes and pretend to be really mad!!

I received the Susan Boyle CD for Christmas this year and she sings, "How Great Thou Art" in it. Well, my 3 year old daughter from Russia sings along - very loudly - "how great is art - how great is art!". I don't even know how she knows about art, except maybe she has heard her sister mention art class from school.

BTW Kim, I e-mailed you a question asking for a little advice, but thought you might think it is junk e-mail. If you have a minute, I'd appreciate your advice! Thank you :)
