Fingerprints? Check!

Here is the update on our adoption: We finally received a copy our completed home study on Monday. Today, Martin and I went to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services department to be fingerprinted. Did you know they don't use ink anymore? As they scan each finger you can watch the image of your fingerprints appear on the computer screen. Cool!

Now, we have to wait 45 to 60 days to receive the approval/clearance letter (a.k.a. Form I-171H) from USCIS. Once we have that form, we can send our dossier to Russia. That's when the official waiting for a referral begins. We've been told by CHI it could be 12 to 16 months before we receive a referral for a little girl in the age range we have requested. CHI's re-accreditation delay is causing a major slow-down. I realize it's not their fault as they have done everything and filed everything required by Russia. There's just no way to predict who Russia will decide should get accredited next.

Hi Kim!
We are with CHI also. Our dossier has been in Krasnoyarsk since July of this year. I've been hearing of so many other agencies with shorter wait times and guaranteed travel in the next few months. It really does start to sound tempting! I hope your i600 approval comes quickly... ours didn't take nearly as long as they quoted us so I hope the same happens for you!

Thanks for the encouragement! We have been very pleased with CHI thus far. I'm really hoping things will pick up speed once they get the accreditation.
