The Abraham Family’s Journey to Russia to Bring Home Their Daughter

Moscow - warning, lots of photos!

I can't believe it has been a month since our last visit with our little girl. I think about her at least 100 times a day.

However, my mom reminded me that I never posted photos from our brief sight-seeing excursion in Moscow. Even though we only had a few hours I managed to take a lot of photos. Here are the best ones:

Ready for our 9 1/2 hour flight from Chicago to Moscow!

We enjoyed having a personal video screen on each seat.

I'll start with the most famous building in Russia -- St. Basil's Cathedral

Moscow Airport - Domodedovo

We took a train from the Airport into down town Moscow. It took about 40 minutes and avoided having to drive through all the Moscow traffic which I'm told can take hours. We stored our luggage at the airport since we were coming back in a few hours to fly to our region.

We could have paid to have our photo taken with Stalin, Lenin, and Ivan the Terrible (not shown), but I opted to use the zoom on my camera instead.

It seemed to us that almost ALL the famous buildings in Red Square and the Bolshoi Theatre were being renovated. But since this is such a huge tourist attraction, the buildings are covered with a giant canopy that looks like an actual building. The scaffolding and construction equipment were hidden behind the canvas.

The park and flower gardens in Red Square were beautiful!

The architecture was so amazing to see up close.

World's Busiest McDonalds in Red Square

Statutes and fountains of Russian Fairy Tales

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Garden (near Kremlin)

Since all the women wear high heels like the photo above, I bet this shoe repair guy (below) stays very busy!

(Yes, that's my reflection in the window taking his photo. He's probably thinking "Go away, you crazy tourist!")

Statute on Old Arbat Street of a Russian Tsar and Tsarina

Old Arbat Street -- the first stop on our World Tour of Star Bucks! While I didn't take the photo of the coffee mugs, that was my souvenir from Moscow and I LOVE it! I plan to pick up a few more on our next trip.
Bonus -- it comes full of coffee!

I didn't get any photos of the Hard Rock Cafe on Old Arbat Street where Martin and I ate lunch or of the marble and bronze statutes in the Metro Terminals. So we have to go back... right?!

Love the photos!! Checking in on you all the time. It is amazing how much I miss Russia when I am not there but when I am there all I want to do is get home. I know that doesn't make sense but seeing the pictures just reminded me.

Thanks for sharing! I have been looking forward to these pictures. Still praying that I get to go with you, so let's keep our fingers crossed that the trip is not near my brother's wedding.
