The Abraham Family’s Journey to Russia to Bring Home Their Daughter

November 17, 2008

Finally!

We have our travel plans set and can finally book plane tickets!

We will have our medical exams done in the region which means we don't have to fly on Thanksgiving day. Instead, we'll leave on the Saturday after Thanksgiving (29th). Really, either date would have been okay. At first I thought traveling on Thanksgiving day would be cruel and unusual punishment... until Martin looked up the flight on American Airlines and we saw how empty the plane would be. The thought of stretching out across a row of five seats and sleeping for 8 hours was starting to look like a pretty good option.

We haven't checked to see what the plane looks like on the 27th, but it is THE busiest travel day in America and our connection to Moscow is in one of THE busiest airports in America. We had trouble with our connecting flights from Chicago O'hara in August, can you imagine what the Saturday after Thanksgiving is going to be like?

Hopefully, not too many people will be going home to Russia after spending Thanksgiving in the U.S. This also saves us money by not having to spend two extra nights in Moscow.

So the good news is that we have set travel dates and we will get to enjoy visiting all our family on Thanksgiving. The only thing left to figure out and coordinate (and it's a biggy) is the how, when and where our boys will get to Russia. We have lots of options dancing around in our heads, but not much to time to get it all out worked out.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

This is great news. We actually had our last Thanksgiving dinner in Vladivostok! It wasn't bad. The hotel chef made us all the traditional dishes and they weren't much different than how 'mom makes it'. The only bummer was that we couldn't have seconds on pie that night and the next day like we do at home. Well...maybe we could of ...but at $7 a slice ... we decided to wait until we got home! ;) So excited to finally see pics of the little zarina!
