The Abraham Family’s Journey to Russia to Bring Home Their Daughter

Trip 2 – Day 1: Moscow

I survived a day in Moscow with just a Tennessee Titans hoodie for warmth. Plus, I had a matching scarf to go with it. And my black velour gloves and faux fur ear warmer. Oh yeah, I was stylin!

Thank goodness it wasn’t too cold.

We had a great flight from Chicago to Moscow. There were tons of empty seats around us. Martin and I each had our own row of three seats. It was a smaller plane than we flew for Trip One, so no individual TVs, but the first in-flight movie. “Meet Dave” was funny, then we stretched and slept about 6 hours.

Our flight arrived early into Moscow so our agency’s translator wasn’t there to meet us as soon as left customs. That was a little unnerving, but she soon showed up and all was good. We did a little more sight-seeing and went into the most beautiful church I have ever seen. It was the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The painted walls and ceilings are indescribably beautiful so I’ll post photos from a calendar of it that I got at the airport. Gorgeous!

Then we went to our agency’s office and met another couple that will be traveling with us. They have court on the same day and their little boy is in the same Baby Home as our daughter. They are from Connecticut and are very nice. I’m looking forward to getting to know them better!

I bet you were happy to see your rep. Moscow airport is very different from what we are used to here stateside and handling it rested and showered would be one thing but jet lagged and tired and dirty is another. I was totally unimpressed but was also having a bit of a food poisining issue at the time. I would like to give it another chance someday.
