More Easter Photos

I wanted to show off Lexi in her own 1st Easter post, but I couldn't completely leave the boys out. They had fun coloring eggs and then taking them outside for the traditional egg races. Lexi was conveniently napping during egg coloring time. Maybe she'll be ready for that next year.

The weather on Sunday was perfect -- sunny and warm. We all went to church together and enjoyed a wonderful service. Then the boys got to see eight members (including several of their friends) get baptized. Our little start-up church that meets in a skating rink and bowling alley welcomed over 400 people for our Easter celebration on Saturday and over 300 on Sunday morning! And all God's people said "Amen!"

We had family gather at our house for a mid-afternoon lunch. It was so nice to just hang out around the kitchen table and catch-up with everyone. We get so busy with our hectic every day activities that it is a rare treat to be able to sit back with a cup of joe, kick off your shoes, and just enjoy the company (in between diaper changes and refereeing the boys' periodic disagreements, of course.) I think Martin even snuck in an afternoon nap on the sofa.

There was only one melt down the whole day. During the egg races, Liam accidentally stepped on Preston's "favorite" blue egg. Preston was visibly upset, but tried not to say anything because he didn't want to hurt Liam's feelings. Garrett decided to avenge Preston's smashed egg by taking Liam's "favorite" green egg and cracking the shell on the sidewalk. Liam was soooo upset. Garrett promptly apologised. But Liam, not feeling well to be begin with, whined for an hour about how his offense was an accident, but what Garrett did was on purpose. I finally had to boil another egg and die it green to replace the ruined one. (It took two tries to get the right color.) Normally, I would not indulge such whininess, but I knew Liam didn't feel good (my first clue was when he was too tired to get out of bed to see his Easter basket.) He just couldn't let it go and I didn't want Easter 2009 to be remembered by Liam as the year Garrett broke his egg on purpose. I think what got me was when I explained to him about how the Bible tells us we are supposed to forgive others when they wrong us. And Liam said, with tears rolling down his cheeks, "I forgave him, but I'm still sad." Thankfully, Liam was asleep by 6:30 pm Sunday night and woke up this morning back to his happy self!

I can't believe I didn't take a photo of all five kids together this year. Maybe I can Photoshop one together in my spare time.... on second thought, who has spare time with five kids?
